Gifts That Aren't Wrapped

Christmas time for me has always been more about spending time with friends and family and enjoying good food and good times than about gifts and shopping. This year I've been especially reflective about all of the gifts I've received throughout the year that won't be wrapped up under our pre-lit fake tree Monday morning, and so many of them have come because one year ago I decided to take a chance on starting a little business called Vet Tech To Go!

I have met so many wonderful people from Brewton to Destin, Gulf Shores to Mary Esther, and right here in Pensacola, folks that long after their pets no longer need my services still text or call to see how I am doing. I have made a lot of new friends!

I have been inspired by so many dogs (and cats and birds and snakes!) who have willed themselves back from grave injury and poor prognoses to good health. To see a dog through a recovery process that starts at paralysis and ends with running and playing will never get old!

I have worked with foster dogs and service dogs and hunting dogs and champion show dogs. Country dogs and city dogs and old dogs and fat dogs. Big dogs and little dogs and young dogs and terminally ill dogs. Crabby cats and happy cats and skinny cats and chunky cats. Hamsters and tarantulas and snakes and birds.

I have been honored by the loyal support of an ever growing circle of local veterinarians who have recognized the need for the services I provide and appreciate the convenience I offer their clients, the improved outcomes I provide to their patients, and my open communication with them. I could not function without their referrals and I appreciate their support and encouragement!

I have had the opportunity to speak to future veterinary technicians and look forward to even more speaking engagements in 2018. I absolutely love being able to share my passion for what I do with others and provide education about physical rehab for pets, being a veterinary technician, and starting a business.

I have been able to live the dream of owning my own business. Being able to provide my own high standard of care to every pet and person has been a goal of mine since I became a certified veterinary technician 15 years ago, but one I was not always able to achieve because I was not the boss. I am most thankful that I am now able to do just that, every time.

I have so much to be thankful for this year! Thank you to everyone I have met through Vet Tech To Go in 2017, the people that helped me get it started, the family and friends who have supported it, the veterinarians who have trusted in me, the clients who have all become friends, the pets who have worked so hard to overcome so much...thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm looking forward to meeting and helping so many more of you in 2018!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and have a happy and safe New Year!
